A dynamic ecological region at Siliguri-Jalpaiguri border and an exhaustive survey by a group of conservation enthusiasts named Airavat Trust Siliguri for the last fifteen years reveal the fascinating biodiversity in this delicate ecosystem, i.e. 231 species of birds, 233 plants, 88 fish vareties, 17 mammal species, 27 spiders, 35 amphibians and reptiles, 17 dragonflies and damselflies as well as crabs, shrimps, molluscs and the mosaic of microhabitants.
